Killara Public school supports children experiencing learning difficulties. The school has a Learning Support Team (LST) consisting of the Principal, school executive teachers, School Counsellor, Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA) and the class teacher. The LST meets on a regular basis to ensure that the needs of students are being met by working collaboratively with classroom teachers and parents to:
- identify and assess students experiencing difficulties in learning
- plan , implement, monitor and evaluate programs for students with learning difficulties
Learning support is provided through:
- consultancy, training and development with other teachers
- withdrawal of students for intensive instruction, monitoring and assessment of progress
- team teaching and support for peer tutoring
If parents have a concern relating to their child's learning they are encouraged to speak with the class teacher as early as possible.
