Human Society and It's Environment
Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) draws upon disciplines such as history, geography, economics, anthropology, archaeology, political science, environmental studies, Aboriginal studies, religious studies and sociology. Students have the opportunity to discuss, plan and apply knowledge and consider what they are learning in the context of their own lives, society, culture and environment. Students also have scope to develop their own opinion, values and viewpoints, and to understand and respect the rights of others.
Killara Public School compliments its very successful HSIE program with excursions and visits including Canberra, the Rocks and Taronga Zoo. Multicultural studies are highlighted with our annual festival whereby all children and their parents celebrate the many varied heritages through costume, food, music, dance, and visiting cultural identities.
